Stephanie Liff, DVM

Medical Director & Veterinarian

Dr. Liff grew up in Cleveland, Ohio and attended the University of Michigan before graduating from the University of Florida College of Veterinary Medicine in 2009. She moved to New York for an internship at BluePearl Veterinary Partners in Manhattan before joining Pure Paws. When out of the office, she enjoys spinning, exploring new restaurants and travelling. She is also an avid Michigan Wolverines fan! She has a special interest in internal medicine and dermatology.

Alex Schechter , DVM


Dr. Alex Schechter grew up in Detroit, and later received his undergraduate degree from the University of Michigan. Pursuing a career in animal medicine, Dr. Schechter earned his Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine from Michigan State University College of Veterinary Medicine. In 2014, he moved to New York City where he completed an internship and advanced training in Small Animal Medicine and Surgery at BluePearl Veterinary Partners in Manhattan. Experiencing great success, he remained at BluePearl afterwards as a Senior Emergency Clinician. Dr. Schechter joined the team at Pure Paws of Hell's Kitchen in 2016. In his spare time, he loves exploring the diverse neighborhoods of New York City with his fiance and their one-eyed Shih Tzu, Cy (short for Cyclopes). Staying true to his hometown and university, Dr. Schechter is a diehard Michigan sports fan - Go Blue!

Rebecca Kurtzman, DVM


Dr. Rebecca Kurtzman earned her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2017. Dr. Kurtzman started practicing as an associate veterinarian at BluePearl Veterinary Partners shortly after graduation, and in July 2018, she joined the medical team at Pure Paws Veterinary Care. She has professional interests in ophthalmology and internal medicine. Dr. Kurtzman enjoys painting, dancing, and doing yoga in her spare time. Her favorite cuisines are Asian and Jing Fong is her local go-to spot. Dr. Kurtzman has a special spot in her heart for Rottweilers. Her first pet was a Rottie named Gwen, and she currently has a Rottie named Bianca.

Imy Slome, VMD


Originally from London, Dr. Imy Slome grew up in New York City. She received her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from University of Pennsylvania in 2016 and interned at BluePearl Veterinary Partners in Manhattan following graduation. Dr. Slome has professional interests in internal medicine and emergency care. Dr. Slome currently lives in Brooklyn, New York and shares a home with her husband and Pit Mix, Sosa. In her spare time, she likes spinning, sailing, hiking and hanging with friends.

Brian Grossbard , DVM, DACVS


Dr. Brian Grossbard, DVM, DACVS, is passionate for both animals and medical science. Pursuing a career as a veterinary surgeon, Dr. Grossbard is a 2005 graduate of the University of Florida College of Veterinary Medicine. Refining his skill and expertise, he completed comprehensive internships including emergency medicine, internal medicine, general and specialty surgery, medical neurology, and an intensive 3-year surgical residency. Since 2006, Dr. Grossbard has been a veterinary surgeon in the state of New York. He is also board-Certified by the American College of Veterinary Surgeons and a certified provider of stem cell therapy.
